On the day we will have a number of prominent bodies and co speakers in attendance such as NPWSForestry Service, Smart Deer Forum / UCDCountry Sports IrelandWDAI, Wicklow Upland Management GroupDept. of Agriculture etc to name but a few, the event will also be covered by a number of media groups, including our national broadcaster.  On the day we will show a number of presentations and have guest speakers to give introductions and outline their roles, this will be open to a short question and answer session.
The presentations on offer will be our popular demo of Carcass handling and field dressing and also a meat handling and butchery display of fine cuts of venison.  The deer presentation will demonstrate how to correctly larder and field dress an animal in a hygienic manner, either at larder or in the field,  how to search for and identify diseases in deer in the red / green offal etc. .
David Dunne, a highly respected deer stalker and course tutor will explain everything in full as he goes along doing the demo, such as the normal anatomy and behaviour of deer in the wild.  Abnormal conditions, poor behaviour,  parasites and diseases in deer such as Tuberculosis submaxillary / retropharyngeal.  How to locate and check the necessary glands such as Lymph nodes etc for abnormalities.
It would be wonderful if you could attend the event. Presentation venue is Belmont Demesne, lower Templecarrig, Greystones, Co Wicklow, A63FX34. On the day the WDAI will put on a venison barbecue and serve refreshments, the event is free for all members and open to the public and the general stalking community, all are welcome to attend. It has always been a  popular event over the years and you will certainly learn a thing or two on the day.

AGM 2021

finally after a testing and hard 19 months, we can now see light at the end of this ordeal on October 22nd. The vaccination programme has gone well and from next month we can start to meet indoors again with larger numbers. Based on this information and in conjunction with the hotel, we are now confirming that we will be holding our long awaited  AGM on Saturday,  November 20th 2021 at Kilcoran Lodge Hotel, Cahir, Co Tipperary, from 19:00pm (7:00pm). Our annual Trophy head display and competition will take place on the night.  Refreshments and a finger food buffet will be provided to all attendees after the meeting has completed.  A monster raffle draw will be run on the night, with some excellent stalking trips on offer and various prizes up for grabs to be won for those that attend the event.
As you know last year the committee stayed on in a caretaker role,  until we could once again propose ,select, and agree upon those new candidates at this coming AGM, the only change we feel that is required, is to reduce the committee to a working limit of 15 people not including the officers. Those that are interested in coming on board, should be willing and enthusiastic to get stuck in and not shy away from the tasks dedicated to be actioned.  Attached on the email are two ballot papers, one for the Officers and the second paper  for the new committee. All positions are up this year, including the officers’ roles,  so the choice is up to the members to select a new officer ship table and working committee. On completion, please email or send back by post, the cut off for returns is on Friday 12th Nov 2021 approx. 8 days in advance of  the AGM taking place (20th Nov 2021). Please select candidates that you feel,  can give the time and effort and also have the association’s best interests. As an old saying goes,  there’s no I in team work. I have listed the old officers and present committee members for the past two years on the ballot paper, you can select again if you want some of the old officers and  committee members or include totally new candidates for all positions, the choice is totally your decision to make.
Any changes to the date of the proposed AGM listed above, i shall revert back again by email. Looking forward to seeing, meeting and greeting old and new friends. As I will need to place an order with the hotel regarding catering / refreshments etc. Can you please confirm by text inputting the word AGM to number 087-6878228 if you shall attend the event. You should be a fully paid up member to vote on the evening and to attend the event.
